The fifth annual Alumni Weekend will take place September 16th and 17th, and I hope many of you will be able to attend. On Friday afternoon, the University has planned the annual Presentation Ceremony for incoming students followed by a reception in the Hall of Flags sponsored by the Alumni Association and Friends of USU. The Saturday morning Symposium promises to be informative and thought-provoking, the student-alumni sporting events will be fun as always, and we will have several screenings of “Fighting for Life,” the documentary of USU graduates caring for our wounded in Sanford Auditorium. Dinner and dancing on Saturday evening will be followed by the second annual USU Alumni Awards. These awards will be presented to a number of distinguished graduates whose impressive careers have earned them the respect and admiration of their fellow alumni as reflected in these award presentations.
The bookstore has numerous new items in stock, and I would encourage you to visit the website to shop around. I find it fun to walk around the areas between the buildings and see who has added their names to the bricks, and I would also ask that you consider purchasing one – a great way to support the Alumni Association and to memorialize your time at USU.
The Alumni Association annual report to the USU Board of Regents has been presented and is available if any Association members wish to review. The Alumni Association was asked to present at the USU Commencement exercises again this year, formally welcoming the graduates to the Association.
I hope all is well,
